Week Ten!!

This Week

It is crazy to think that it is the tenth week of class! I feel like this semester has flown by, and that I have learned so many things that I will use in my future classroom. For example, this week we learned about TPACK. This really means Technology, Content, and Pedagogical Knowledge. We have to be able to do all three of those well to achieve the TPACK. It is simply, when you blend all three of those knowledges in the classroom together. This goes hand in hand with out NCTCS. 4D states that we should, "integrate technology within instruction to maximize student learning." This is going to be used in our future classroom and something that is going to be very beneficial for us as teachers. One of the things that really stuck out to me in class was that "Technology is a tool, NOT an outcome". This emphasizes that technology is not about what they do, it is about what the students are doing with the technology. I think that is something so important to remember!

Technology

This week in class we were also introduced to a new piece of technology that we can use in our future classroom. It is a website called "smore". With this website we can create webpages that change their format when they are looked at by a computer or by a smartphone. This is really convenient, because not every website allows that to happen. One other thing this website can create is local flyers. This could be with thing locally, or could be used in the classroom. This is a really cool website that I could potentially be using in my future classroom!

Future Classroom

In my future classroom I want to make sure that I am going to be using TPACK. I want to be able to use not only technology knowledge, but also know the content and know how to teach the content. That is one interracial part of TPACK, is the ability to use all three together in the classroom and that is something I am so excited to start doing in my future classroom. I love learning all of the different things that will affect my future classroom.

  1. I think utilizing TPACK is extremely important when considering our future classrooms. TPACK is definitely essential in order to maximize student learning, and to create a classroom environment that facilitates learning to the highest degree.

  2. The statement that technology is a tool, not an outcome stuck out to me as well! I wrote my entire blog based on that statement because it was a true eye opener to me. I don't want to go tech crazy in my classroom and allow it to take over and never have face to face contact with my students. We, as educators, have an important, yet challenging job to do and that is figure out a way to use technology in a beneficial way, but still teach our students by talking to them.

  3. I believe that Technology is just a tool as well. We should integrate Technology, not make it our lesson every lesson. We have to make sure that the student gets enough technology but not too much where they get addicted to it and expect it every lesson.

  4. Realizing that the standard 4 was talking about technology and thats why the T was added on to the TPACK. I think it is important for students to get all parts of the TPACK. In this generation we can't forget about technology but also can't rely on it.

  5. I think being introduced to all these different tools to use in class is very cool, and we'll be able to use them ourselves when we get our own classrooms.

  6. TPACK is going to be extremely useful! I agree with you in your future classroom; I want to be able to integrate content and technology knowledge but we cannot forget about about pedagogy!

  7. Technology is a good thing to use in the classroom. I believe it is good because today's world is updating everyday. Sooner or later there will be no more textbooks and everything will be on a laptop or on a smart device.
