First Week of Class
During the first week of class we have learned so many things. We have learned not only what is required for teachers, but also how to "unpack" the standards that are stated in the NCSCOS, North Carolina Standard Course of Study. I have so much more to learn about these standards, but have really enjoyed learning how to unpack them, so I can better understand what is required of me. While doing some research about teaching, I have learned about a website called teacherease, which is an online grade book that helps teachers communicate with parents easier. This seems really cool, and maybe one day I will want to try it to help my student's parents be able to communicate and see their child's grade more easily. That brings me to my next point, that there is always going to be something I do not know about teaching. I will always be continuing to learn even when I am a teacher. This is one connection I made this week and I realized it is one of the amazing parts about my job, is that I am going to be continuing to learn even after college.
I really liked how you named it "First" and then went down the list and ending with first job. The new things we learn in this program will lead us to that first day of our first job. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI was really worried about "unpacking" the standards and I think Clarker helping us the other day in class was such an amazing help! I also feel much more confident.
ReplyDeleteBailey,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have already begun to learn so much in EDUC 250. Thanks for sharing the tool. I will have to check that out.

I loved the comment you made about us learning every day as teachers even after college. I've been working as a preschool teacher for about a year now at a local daycare and I must say that what you learn from your students can sometimes be far important than what you read in a textbook. Children are so humble and oblivious to all the craziness of this world that it makes you inspired to be more like them. They don't worry about what they look like or what the person next to them is doing, they see every opportunity to learn something new and I love to watch them learn and grow!
ReplyDeleteBailey,
ReplyDeleteI will also have to check out that tool one day! Thanks for sharing with us something that could help communicate with our kids parents in the future. My little brother was failing his math class one semester and my stepmom had no clue until a report came out stating he was failing. I think this would help with parents wanting to get more involved.
I agree with Team Clarker helping us with unpacking standards. I feel blessed that we have such good role models for our first Educ class!
